The solar car from the German start-up Sono Motors will be revealed at Sion / Switzerland on July 27th. The Sono Sion is a medium-sized car that will take solar panels built into the body structure to add autonomy. The car will cost between € 12,000 and € 16,000 (without the batteries) and will be manufactured from 2018/2019 on, as the German start-up has secured funding for its project through an international crowdfunding.
Sion is the first electric production car capable of recharging its batteries from the sun. So now, you’ll never have to worry about range. The Sion body is equipped with integrated solar cells. These charge the battery when parked and while driving. 30 free kilometers per day are possible just from the electricity generated by the sun. The Sion meets the requirements of a truly everyday car: A range of 250km, high power rapid charging, and a sophisticated interior concept with an optional trailer hitch. After presenting the car at Sion, it will take a trip through Europe to offer test drives.
