Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In helps to increase sales

Mitsubishi Motors' UK sales volume has been growing at a rapid rate since the start of 2013. It was the fastest growing mainstream car brand last year and sales in 2014 are equally impressive, up 32%.

The sales growth accelerated significantly from spring this year, when the brand increased its marketing activities. The latest SMMT sales figures show Mitsubishi passenger car sales were up 197% in July with all models (Mirage, ASX, Outlander, Shogun and L200) showing an increase.

The arrival of the much anticipated Outlander PHEV is helping the company’s sales success. In July Outlander PHEV outsold all other vehicles which qualify for the governments Plug-in Car Grant, accounting for 43% of successful applications. This car has received huge levels of public interest, driven by the vehicle’s outstanding fuel consumption of 148mpg and low emission credentials – 44g/km. Toby Marshall, Director of Sales & Marketing for Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, said: “Now that the sales figures are in for July, it is clear to see we have made significant progress so far this year. The addition of the game-changing Outlander PHEV to our vehicle line-up has helped boost Mitsubishi brand awareness, increasing sales of all models in our range.”
