The Swiss Formula Student Team Academic Motorsports Association Zürich (AMZ) has reached a new Guinness Record hidding with the electric racer Grimsel the 100 km/h in a staggering 1.513 seconds - faster than a McLaren F1.
The EV racer weighs only 168 kg (370 lb), made nearly completely by carbon fibre, and is powered by four electric hub motors of 50 HP (37 kW) each, one in every wheel. This four engines together produce a inbelievable 1.630 NM (1.202 lb-ft), which punted the car to 100 km/h in only 1,5 seconds.
A special torque vectoring system controlls traction and also the virage, in which the outside wheels get a little bit more torque than the inside wheels.
For tha Guinness World Record the team had to realised two tests, one in each way, rercording the average of both way for the record.
