The Swiss company Designwerk, based in Winterthur, has signed a contract with the specialist manufacturer Faun in Germany, which will be responsible for the distribution of the electric trucks that the Swiss market under the name Futuricum. The Futuricum trucks, which are specially designed for heavier work such as concrete mixer or refuse collector, will therefore be distributed by Faun throughout Europe, including Spain, with the Germans also taking care of after-sales and service.
The Futuricum trucks manufactured in Switzerland based on different chassis from both Volvo and Mercedes-Benz, and are fully electrified with battery capacities ranging from 170 to 680 kWh.
Faun and Designwerk (Futuricum) are also planning close cooperation on hydrogen trucks, as the Germans have been working in this field for years and a new series of heavy fuel cell trucks with hydrogen as a fuel is about to come onto the market. It seems that the two technologies will be combined, the trucks will mainly go in pure electric, with the fuel cell as a range-extender to guarantee more autonomy.
