Faraday Future revealed EV concept and factory plans

New California-based manufacturer Faraday Future revealed its FFZERO1 concept car at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The car is based on their own new "Variable Platform Architecture (VPA), a unique system developed for electric vehicles that combines structural stability with extensive modularity. The company proprietary platform has come out of a partnership with Chinese technology firm Lets, in the hand of chinesa billionaire entrepreneur Jia Yueting.

As Bill Moore from EV World www.evworld.com pronounced, what FF unveiled wasn't what people expected. It was not a stereotypical family passenger car, "instead, the latest entrant into the EV world literally pulled the sheet off a single-seat model that would be right at home on the road track at LeMans."

Whats happened? Building a supercar may not seem like the most obvious decision for a producer of electric vehicles and new mobility solutions to make. But, Nick and Richard's teams saw the FFZERO1 Concept as a remarkable opportunity to explore and amplify the design and engineering ideas that they were developing for our production vehicles.

Faraday Future’s engineering team was particularly eager to experiment with their new Variable Platform Architecture (VPA), a unique system developed for electric vehicles that combines structural stability with extensive modularity.

What makes this platform so groundbreaking is its dynamic, endlessly adaptable design. The chassis can be extended or contracted based on the vehicle’s needs. In doing so, we can vary the number of stored batteries, which are arranged in what we call “strings.” Adding or subtracting battery strings will modify a vehicle’s potential weight, energy efficiency, and travel distance off of a single charge.

Though Faraday Future is not a race car company, the process of designing the FFZERO1 Concept served as an indispensable proof of concept for the technologies we are developing, the all-digital design processes we are embracing, and the incredible collective power of the world-class teams that we have assembled.

About Faraday: Faraday Future is a well funded California-based mobility company comprised of a global team of nearly 500 automotive and technology experts who believe the automotive experience should integrate seamlessly with the rest of people’s lives.

By placing equal emphasis on automotive and technology disciplines, FF is uniquely positioned to take a user-centric, technology-first approach to vehicle design. The company intends to develop a range of 100% electric vehicles that offer intelligent, seamless connectivity to the outside world. FF seeks to redefine the automotive experience by delivering a range of intelligent, electric vehicles and unique ownership arrangements that will fit the needs of tomorrow’s population.
