an electric urban car for 12.000€

After successful launch of Autolib, French manufacturer of the Bluecar, will now make it available to consumers for €12.000 and lifetime battery warranty.

Owning an electric car is getting increasingly affordable, if you live in France. Between government incentives and aggressive manufacturer pricing, a state-of-the-art battery electric car like Renault's new ZOE or the just-announced offering by Bolloré, manufacturers of the Bluecar used in Paris' Autolib carshare program.

For that you get a state-of-the-art, four-passenger, all-electric car with a range up to 250km and top speed of electronically limited to 130 km/h (80 mph). Zero-to-100 km (62 mph) is a spritely 6.3 seconds. The Bluecar fleet used in the Autolib program, which now boasts 65,000 members, has amassed more than 15 million kilometers, Additionally, there are some 4,000 charging stations in and around Paris and its suburbs.

By buying the car, you are not buying the battery, that you have to rent from the company for €80 a month. Of course, the 'fuel' to charge it is also a separate cost. The upside is this rental arrangement is, you never have to worry about bearing the cost of battery replacement; its warrantied for the life of the vehicle.
